The Scratch today return with new single ‘Gladrags’, arriving hot on the heels of recent single ‘Pullin’ Teeth’, which has captured the attention of tastemakers across the globe, including Dork, Kerrang!, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and Anthony Fantano. The third instalment from the band’s upcoming album Pull Like A Dog, ‘Gladrags’ taps into the restless loop of modern distraction, which can lead to overthinking and self-interrogation. The band recently announced a run of UK instore dates (see below), plus – due to huge demand – they have upgraded their London headline show, which will now take place at Electric Ballroom.
Conor (guitar, backing vocals) came up with the guitar riff for “Gladrags” while listening to an interview with Tyler, the Creator, while lyrically, Lango (cajon, lead vocals) pulls from personal experiences of inattentiveness – “It’s about how being inattentive can land me in hot water, which ironically makes me wander further into my thoughts, resulting in this perpetual cycle of inattentiveness. But also seeing it in others and observing how they try to cover it up/deal with it’.
To coincide with the release, The Scratch have unveiled a playful and brilliant visual, shot in the back room of a snooker club. Directed by Colin Peppard and produced by Claudia McCormick (Heritage), the video sees the band fully suited-up as professional snooker players, not taking themselves too seriously against a player obsessively chasing perfection. The result is as smart, entertaining and cleverly executed as everything The Scratch do.
‘Gladrags’ drops ahead of a huge year for The Scratch. Following a stellar performance to close-out the iconic St. James Church at Other Voices, Dingle towards the end of last year, the band were recently named among The Independent’s ‘Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2026’. The band will perform their biggest Irish headline show to date at Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens on July 4th — now close to sell‑out — before embarking on headline tours across the US, UK and Australia this April. The Scratch are showing no signs of slowing down and continue to cement their reputation as one of the most exciting live acts gaining international momentum.
