Babyrat – share debut singe ‘Roses’

BABYRAT today release their anticipated debut single, Roses. Having built a fervent live following – including a recent spot supporting Jack White in Ireland – all before releasing a single song, the Cork based four-piece are now ready to make their official introduction to the world.

BABYRAT have spent the past year doing things differently. Rather than immediately chasing streams, they have built their audience from the live room out, playing relentlessly, sharing early demos directly with fans and cultivating a community around the band in real life.

That approach has already taken them from local Cork stages to sold-out headline shows and major festival appearances. ‘Roses’, the song that has opened their live set more than 75 times is a fitting start to their new journey.

On the new single, the band say –

Roses is about love turning to spite in a coming-of-age setting. The reason it’s the opening song in every set is the same reason why it is our first release, it’s the perfect introduction to us and sets the tone for what we are and what’s to come.

The track draws on the guitar-driven immediacy of The Strokes, the sharp pop lyricism of Olivia Rodrigo and the expansive rock production of Paramore, combining the raw energy of BABYRAT’s live show with a bigger pop production.
