We’ve known for quite some time that Kilkenny’s own Robert Grace has a knack for writing from the heart, but “Home” might just be his most touching release yet. Out today, November 5th, the single features not only Robert but also his father Bob and young son Lincoln. Three generations on one track results in a genuinely moving track that perfectly captures the chaos and comfort of family life.
From the first verse, Grace’s honesty shines through. His vocals are much more stripped back here than what we’ve heard in recent releases. The songwriting is honest with lines like “Broken but you seem to love me / Something I struggle to believe.”
Following on from Robert’s verse, his father Bob adds another layer altogether. His verse has this earthy, traditional Irish tone that really shows off the difference in generations. I was very pleasantly surprised by his talent.
This track builds slowly and beautifully, swelling into a moment near the end where Lincoln’s voice enters. It really caught me off guard and I genuinely got goosebumps from how beautiful it was. I can imagine for the whole family this is more than a track and more a keepsake, one they will treasure for years.
In short, this is a wonderful, uplifting track that makes you think about your own family, your own “home.” Robert has long proven his pop credentials with viral hits like “Fake Fine” and “Not OK”. This is a family-oriented song arriving just in time for the Christmas season and speaking of Christmas, Robert and Lincoln have already begun teasing the return of their viral festive track from last year…keep those eyes peeled.
