The Grand Social in Dublin played host to A Double Headline Adventure in Ireland 2025, a vibrant and intimate evening of alt-folk storytelling with Will Varley and Beans On Toast (Jay McAllister). With each act delivering a full hour-long set packed with music, laughter, and heartfelt moments, it was the kind of night that reminds you why live music still matters.

Will Varley opened the show with an unexpected move performing a brand-new, never-before-played song. It was a brave choice that immediately set a tone of authenticity and risk-taking for the night. From there, he moved into more familiar territory, with standout tracks like Until the Grass Gets Greener and Machines Will Never Learn to Make Mistakes, a thoughtful, humorous take on the growing role of artificial intelligence. Varley’s signature blend of social commentary, lyrical depth, and dry wit kept the crowd engaged from start to finish.

Following Varley, Beans On Toast brought his usual blend of ramshackle charm, clever songwriting, and irreverent humor. Jay McAllister has a rare gift for making a packed room feel like a living room session, chatting easily with the crowd and weaving stories through his songs.
