Foy Vance – announces his eighth studio album ‘IF’ with the release of its first single “Feel The Cold”

Emmy-winning singer-songwriter Foy Vance announces his eighth studio album, IF (coming 30 April, 2027) with the release of its first single, “Feel The Cold.” In many ways an autobiography in album form, IF will be released in three parts, with each part arriving as a separate EP as the album unfolds: IF: WE (part 1 coming 30 October) and forthcoming parts IF: YOU and IF: I.

Produced by Anderson East (Lukas Nelson, Waylon Wyatt), IF ushers in a new chapter in Vance’s landmark body of work. The album began in a creative resurgence when Vance handed over 100+ songs, some of which featured co-writes from other songwriting luminaries like Lori McKenna, Natalie Hemby, Gabe Simon and Ross Copperman. With the help of East, Vance reimagined these newly discovered and long-hidden gems through the lens of who he is now, revealing new truths in their collective exploration of devotion, grief, longing, and forgiveness. A rare dialogue across time and experience, his eighth album IF presents an intimate meditation on transformation and possibility: the lasting imprints of what we endure, the infinite ways in which love changes us, and the seemingly small choices that end up shaping a life.

For Vance, IF is a word loaded with regret, hope, danger, promise, and transformation. Across these three acts, it becomes the thread connecting a lifetime of songs — and the questions still echoing inside them.

“From a young age I was told that if you want to live your life right and decent, ‘If’ will show you how,” says Vance on the album and its title. “It’s tied to everything I was gleaning from writing these songs over the last 27 years, and in a way it’s like the arc of life itself. You’re born into the ‘we’ of a family, then you find your ‘you’—the person you move through life with. And eventually, if you’re lucky or wise enough, you realise everything begins and ends with ‘I.’”

“Feel The Cold” (out now) was written decades ago during a year he spent living on the Spanish island of Lanzarote in his 20s. The song offers an early glimpse at Vance’s profound gift for holding melancholy and joy in delicate balance, rendering each emotion with both unsparing candor and deep sensitivity. As he enjoyed his summer idyll, surfing and playing gigs, he realised that he ultimately needed to go home, face real life, and the cold of winter if he was really going to move on to his next chapter.

“Feel The Cold” is the first preview of IF: WE– the first of the album’s three EPs that will be released on 30th October. The five-track EP looks at the wider world as Vance examines relationships, homesickness, and the acceptance of failure, all while rooted in Vance’s potent melding of folk and soul.

IF follows Vance’s March 2026 album, The Wake, which completed his seven-album quest of honoring his late father through his solo work. Praised by Rolling Stone, Forbes, People Magazine, MOJO, Clash and more, The Wake carries a title that reflects both sorrow and the promise of healing, and brings Vance’s gritty vocal work to a potent convergence of folk, soul, and Southern blues. Vance’s impressive discography also includes his 2013 international breakthrough Joy of Nothing (featuring guest spots from Bonnie Raitt and Ed Sheeran) and 2016’s The Wild Swan (executive-produced byElton John).

Next month, Vance will kick off his 60-date world tour, which will start in Europe and the UK, including two dates at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in October, and will continue through the US, including Los Angeles (two nights), Denver, Nashville, Chicago, Washington D.C. and New York City.
