Viral LGBTQ & brat-pop icon Zela – set to release hot new single ‘Chick Flick’ featuring Princess Superstar on the 6th of June

Teaming up with Princess Superstar (of Saltburn fame) ZELA is playfully unfiltered with her new single Chick Flick; a ballsy, indie-sleaze-infused slice of brat-pop that oozes sexual liberation. Equal parts seduction and satire, Chick Flick is the sound of queer joy in full technicolour; with the “bi-con”’s ambisexual vocal performance pushing pop’s boundaries. Soaked in androgyny, lashed with wit and then baked in late-night lust, the single cements ZELA’s place as one of pop’s most fearless voices. Blending the nostalgic grime of early 2000s bloghaus with hyper-modern pop polish and packed with cinematic references & innuendo-laced lyrics, Chick Flick is as infectious as it is salacious.

“I really experimented with the polar extremes of my bisexuality for this song. I love embracing my masc energy & leaning into that f*ckboy persona, but then getting real femme for other parts of the song too. When I wrote the line “do you like sushi? It’s my second favourite thing to eat” – that set the tone for the track and I knew it was going to be fun.”

Using her witty writing skills to amass a total of 28 million views on tiktok and 26 million views on instagram reels, ZELA’s tongue-in-cheek pop culture rewrites paired with her unashamed personality are to thank for her ongoing viral success – with Charli XCX herself a fan of  ZELA’s take on ‘brat’.
