So at last i got to photograph a band I’v listen to for a very long time, last time they played Dublin they didn’t allow photographers, this time we had to shoot from the crowd, none the less it was a honour to photograph a band that means a lot to me for personal reasons.
The band in question are the fantastic Psychedelic Furs and choosing to open their set with ”President Gas” just made the night for me anyway and then it was just hit after hit, it may have felt like a crowd pleaser of a show as they rolled through the hits but the hits are great. It also was a pretty short set of only twelve songs accumulating to just over an hour which could have been a disappointment to some.
Along with ”President Gas” as mentioned it was hits including ” The Ghost In You” / ”The Boy That Invented Rock & Roll” / ”Love My Way” and of-course ”Pretty In Pink” well I dont think they would have got out of the building if they didn’t paly that lol (See set-list below for more and that they decided to switch the last two songs about before the encore, as on the set-list it was written ”Pretty In Pink & then ”Forever Now”).
Opening band on the night were up and coming Cork band Little Known who only released their single ”The Richest Man” the same day and for me anyway have a very The Cure sound about them thinking on Disintegration period, which isn’t a bad thing at all and are ones to watch out for.
