Spanish multi-genre évocateur and the next Latin music star Sila Lua releases her new single, ‘HACER TEATRO’, out now via Altafonte. The single is accompanied by a video release which is available to watch below.
On ‘HACER TEATRO’, Sila Lua takes elements of pop and electronic and fuses it with her customary Latin aesthetics, in turn creating an eclectic and refined track that demonstrates her exquisite artistry. ‘HACER TEATRO’ was co-written and produced by Pau Aymí and incorporates authentic Latin rhythms such as dembow, and within the track Sila Lua pays homage to dance – the central crux of her most recent work – by referencing the main motif of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake’. Following the release of singles ‘EQUILIBRIO’ and ‘BRASIL’ which came out earlier this year, this new single is yet another sign of the evolution of Sila Lua’s sound as she expands her universe and demonstrates why she is one of the most exciting new artists on the scene today.
The music video for ‘HACER TEATRO’ was directed by the experimental director Claudia del Barrio, and choreographed by Marta Ros who has worked with the likes of Amaia and Rigoberta Bandini.
Speaking about ‘HACER TEATRO’, Sila Lua said:
“HACER TEATRO is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. I was inspired by theatre and that way in which actors enter the stage and enjoy the moment while trying to be present and true to what they want to represent. In the chorus I say “do theatre or do nothing” and that is more or less the vibe I’m into right now, especially regarding my own craft”
In May 2024, Sila Lua performed her first shows in the UK, first at Liverpool Sound City and then at The Great Escape in Brighton, where she was picked by DMY Mag as one of the highlights of the festival. Sila Lua also recently supported Elliot Moss on tour in Mexico across three major cities.
Born in Galicia and now based in Madrid, Sila Lua began her career in 2017 whilst studying music production in London, releasing two EPs at this time. Her debut album ROMPE was released in 2022 which saw her win the Martin Codax Award for Best Urban Music Album. Sila Lua was also nominated for the Best Pop Video Newcomer award at the UK Music Video Awards 2023 for her single ‘Rompe’, and her songs have been featured on TV series ‘Elite’ (Netflix) and ‘Soy Tu Fan’ (Disney+/Star+). To date, Sila Lua has amassed +9 million streams across digital platforms.
