Shobsy – set to release infectious disco infused new single ‘Entertainment’

After a ‘sold out’ show at Workman’s Club in April, Shobsy announces an upgrade headline show at The Academy 2 on Friday November 15th. Recently returned from a very successful trip to Los Angeles where he performed at MUSEXPO and as a special guest at the International Music Industry Person of the Year Awards, Shobsy will release his new single ‘ENTERTAINMENT‘ on Friday 12th July.

Shobsy’s first three solo releases ‘Vanity’, ‘Driven’ and ‘The Way We Are’ were received exceptionally with support given both here at home and overseas including; EARMILK, PopMatters, Nialler 9, Hot Press, Today FM and Record Of The Day amongst others.

However, a performance on ‘The Late Late Show’ would lead to far reaching additional attention for this Dublin based singer, songwriter and live performer. Shobsy performed a special acoustic re-working of the Jimmy Somerville classic, Smalltown Boy on the show; vocals with piano accompaniment. It was sublime in it’s sentiment and delivery and the audience reacted; Shobsy’s Late Late Show version of Smalltown Boy went viral and clocked over 100k views in 12 hours

Following a sustained period of writing and collaborating in Berlin, there is much anticipation ahead of Shobsy releasing his next single ‘ENTERTAINMENT’.

Fans of The Weeknd, Kanye West & Kavinsky are in for a treat as Shobsy’s new recordings in Berlin embodies each of them through the recordings genre-hopping rhythm, crossing the boundaries of synth pop into R&B.

This Dubliner’s natural vocal ability, showmanship yet grounded charismatic personable character has already gained him a legion of fans. We are so excited not just for you to hear his new recordings, but also for us all to watch where this superb artist takes us next.

In Shobsy‘s words about this new single, he says :

“In an age where songs are consumed like popcorn, ‘ENTERTAINMENT‘ is a song designed to satisfy and satiate even the most hungry of listeners. The track toys with the idea of how the artist has become the slave of its audience, doing anything and everything in order to Entertain. But don’t read too much into it…this is ENTERTAINMENT, nothing more, nothing less”
