OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) / Walt Disco – 3Olympia, Dublin 28.02.2024

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, released the album Bauhaus Staircase last year and it has rejuvenated both fans and the band to their electronic sound and judging by last nights reaction from the crowd to both new an old songs the rejuvenation is strong.
The band played to a sold-out 3olympia crowd who didn’t stop dancing right from the get-go and the emotions of joy and surprise from the band was very clear to be seen and they got even more emotional when the crowd san g happy birthday to band member Paul David Humphreys, who’s birthday was the day before.
Opening the show were Glasgow’s Walt Disco only their second time to play Dublin and not known to many in the audience, Their first time was a headline gig in The Sound House back in April of 2022 which I was at. They seemed to win over the vast majority of the crowd and through out their set they got plenty of loud cheers and shouts of encouragement. As a fan of the band I was glad to see them go down well with the OMD crowd as I think this band has a lot to offer.
