Lyric / Juno – Takes The UK & Ireland tour live gallery and review from The Academy 2 Dublin 11.07.2025

Rising Gold Coast singer-songwriter and producer Lyric lit up The Academy 2 in Dublin with a stunning performance that marked her first ever Irish date and a key stop on her debut international tour. The 21-year-old artist, known for her emotional alt-pop sound and magnetic stage presence, drew a crowd that was young, energetic, and ready to pour their hearts into every word.

Opening the night was Meanjin/Brisbane-based alt-pop band Juno, fronted by Kahlia Ferguson with Sam Woods on bass. Their dreamy yet punchy set, set the tone perfectly, blending clean production with raw vocals. Ferguson’s voice shone with emotion, earning them a warm reception from the packed venue.

But when Lyric finally stepped onto the stage, the energy reached a new peak. The room filled mostly with teenage girls erupted in screams that could likely be heard down the street. From the very first note, the crowd sang nearly every lyric in unison, creating an atmosphere of community, catharsis, and full-body joy.
Throughout the night, Lyric moved between emotions, and aesthetics with ease. A standout moment came before her song 1985, when she paused to snap a photo of the crowd on a retro camera. Just then, a fan in the crowd held up a portrait they had painted of her. Visibly touched, Lyric accepted the gift on stage and visibly moved by the gesture. It was one of many sincere exchanges that reminded everyone just how deeply her music connects with fans.

Later, Lyric surprised the audience with a heartfelt cover of ‘That’s So True‘ by Gracie Abrams, another artist known for vulnerable lyricism. The during ‘In Another Life‘, she grabbed drumsticks and joined in by crashing cymbals showing not just her production chops but also her flair for live performance.
One of the most intimate moments of the night came after that, when she stepped off the stage and sat in the middle of the audience to sing ‘Dining Room Table‘. With everyone seated around her in hushed reverence, the emotional weight of the song hit even harder.

Returning to the stage, she slowed things down with an acoustic segment, joined only by her guitarist. Here, she invited opener Kahlia Ferguson back up for a gorgeous duet of ‘Isabella‘, showcasing both vocalists’ talents in a stripped-back, soul-baring performance.
The show ended on a high with the full band returning for a final burst of energy, including a crowd-pleasing cover of ‘Red Wine Supernova‘ by Chappell Roan, and finishing strong with Lyric’s own song Gravity a perfect closer that left the crowd buzzing.

For a debut Irish performance, Lyric didn’t just impress she connected. It was my first time seeing both acts, and it won’t be the last. If this night proved anything, it’s that Lyric’s star is rising fast and she’s bringing a devoted, global fanbase along with her.
