Jesse Jo Stark – is back with a new single “billie don’t be so mad”

Todayenigmatic femme fatale Jesse Jo Stark is back with a new single, “billie don’t be so mad,” co-written and produced with the legendary Linda Perry and Thomas Hunter. The track marks an evolution in Jesse Jo’s artistry and finds her at her most sultry, a departure from some of her recent edgier sounds. As evocative as it is relatable, “billie don’t be so mad” delves deep into the heart of love lost, capturing the bittersweet sting of nostalgia and the lingering spectre of what once was. Stark’s vocals guide us through a journey exploring the shadows of love and loss, reminding us that while love may fade, its echoes haunt us forever.

Stark reveals, “it’s about chasing the idea of someone or something…trying to reach them, but they are just memories of what you used to know, so all you see is their shadows.” While the song wasn’t written about Jesse Jo’s late dog Billie, “she did very much inspire the name. I grabbed her face that day in the studio and said: ‘Billie, why you barking so much? Why you so mad? And now she’s my favourite kinda memory… and this is ‘billie don’t be so mad’.”

“billie don’t be so mad” comes on the heels of her hit single, “Skeleton,” which currently sits at 1.5M+ views and ahead of Stark’s upcoming performance at the first annual BLUDFEST on Sunday, August 11th and a headlining show at Dingwalls London on Wednesday, August 14th. Stark kicked off 2024 with a successful two night sold-out concert series at Fontainebleau Hotel’s inaugural New Year’s Eve performance where she opened for Post Malone. Her set was made more special by her stage look, a late 70s vintage Bob Mackie piece from the archive, worn and owned by the Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar-winning icon, Cher. These shows marked the end of a career-defining year for the artist which included her first headlining international tour spanning across cities in the UK, Europe, and North America including sold out stops in London, Paris, Berlin, New York, and Los Angeles.
