Irish indie artist The Butterfly Graveyard is located somewhere between The Blue Nile, Jeff Buckley and the deep blue sea. He makes a fragile music, soft as a butterfly’s wing but sometimes rough and uneven like the underbelly of a leaf, translucent when held up under the light. Having released a series of well received singles over the last couple of years the Cork based artist returns with a tale of indie romance ‘Gatecrasher‘ on Thurs 12th Feb which promises to set up 2026 as an exciting year for this prolific and talented artist.
‘I suppose at its heart Gatecrasher is a Romantic footstomper. It’s a love song about a guy trying to impress the object off his affection by stealing priceless works of art to win her heart. Definitely based on the movie The Thomas Crown Affair with Steve Mqueen and Faye Dunaway.
I’d always choose International art thief as a dream occupation, who knows, maybe the latest jewel heist in the Louvre was a bored wealthy industrialist stealing the French crown jewels and presenting them to his girl who ultimately remains suitably not impressed.’
