Arren is back with a brand new single, “Broken” and after listening to it a lot recently I can confirm it’s a total earworm in the best way possible. If you’re into pop-rock with the kind of chorus that sticks in your head for hours this one’s for you.
Lyrically, “Broken” plays with the idea that sometimes… it’s fine not to be fine. Lines like “somehow, I’m fine with being broken now” hit with a kind of acceptance that feels super relatable. It’s not wallowing, it’s more like shrugging your shoulders and singing through the mess. It’s a very “life goes on” sort of vibe.
And speaking of vibes, this track is also catchy as hell. It’s really tough to not sing along after one listen. Arren does a solid job blending the emotional lyrics with that catchy sounding chorus (a tough thing to do when the message leans a bit heavier).
The production is clean and punchy, typical of modern pop-rock, but with a personal twist that feels very him. You can definitely imagine a crowd singing this back at him, luckily, that might just happen soon, because he’s just announced he’s playing Whelan’s on Saturday, June 21st. Definitely one to catch live if you’re around.
“Broken” deserves a spot on a few playlists and hopefully some radio love too. It’s the kind of track you accidentally learn all the words to without trying. More of this, please.
‘Broken’ isn’t broken at all as it gets an 8.5 out of 10
