Irish alternative rock band Dream Boy release their single ”Bleed” today, read our review here

Irish alternative rock band DREAM BOY is set to release their latest single, “Bleed,” on November 22. The track delves into the complexities of mental health, capturing the struggle to be heard and understood. The song’s structure mirrors this journey, beginning with a subdued, slow-burning instrumental that gradually builds to an explosive cinematic sounding climax, symbolizing the intense desire to be seen.

Lead vocalist and band manager Allie Ryan delivers haunting vocals that intertwine seamlessly with the layered production, creating a dreamy yet poignant soundscape. The instrumentation is meticulously crafted, with reverb-soaked guitars and wistful harmonies that are characteristic of DREAM BOY’s shoegaze style delivered by the always impressive Sean Hilliard and from the equally great Lola Rose and that iconic pink bass. The drums from Robyn Tywford Troy really have a massive impact on this track and can not be understated.

The lyrics poignantly express feelings of invisibility and the yearning for recognition:

“No, I don’t make a sound, I give my whole self to the people that I see, but somehow, they see just half of me.”

Having experienced DREAM BOY live twice this year, their stage presence is as compelling as their recorded work. The second time I saw them was during their support performance for English band Cat Ryan. Their live performances resonate with authenticity, leaving audiences captivated and often converting new fans. “Bleed” is an indication of their artistic growth and dedication, solidifying their place in the alternative rock scene. It’s no wonder they have garnered so much recognition in the Irish music scene so quickly with national outlets like 2FM already paying attention to them.

”Bleed” scores a nice 7 out of 10

Rating: 7 out of 10.
