Stephen O’Malley‘s label Ideologic Organ is proud to announce the new album from the Saint-Esprit organist (since 2005) Hampus Lindwall, titled Brace For Impact. Today, they share the title track with the full album to follow on 20th June.
About the track, Lindwall comments, “‘Brace for Impact’ is a match of arm wrestling between the organ and the electric guitar, two instruments that are separated by a huge historic gap, but united in their force and energy. The piece is inspired by both Xenakis and 90s metal, and the guitars performed by Stephen O’Malley, founding member of SUNN O)))”
And from the liner notes by Robert Barry, “It’s an electrifying piece of music, slapping the listener round the face straight out of the gate at the start of the record. But it’s also a deft study on the uneasy relation between analogue curves and digital steps.”
