London-based band heavy wild today return with their brand new single, Lonely Dawn via their new label home, Submarine Cat Records! Showcasing their lo-fi, alt/rock sensibilities heard on last year’s EP, Death Dreams, the track hears them expand on this, and find a fresh urgency in their sound. Built around a heavy bass riff and frenetic lead guitar line, sonically the song seeks to capture feelings of frustration and disarray, pushing and pulling before swelling into a cathartic crescendo. Listen to Lonely Dawn here.
Frontman Wolfgang Harte explains, “The song is about those moments in life when you realise how much everything has changed, whether that’s people or a situation, and how far away you are from a certain time. It’s about coming to terms with changes in life and feelings of helplessness often fuelled by regret.”
The group have also revealed the video for Lonely Dawn, which reflects the friction at the heart of the song. It blends a gritty live performance from the band with images of riots, metamorphosis and religious and violent scenes. Film-maker Bobbie Sarangi comments, “I wanted the video to show this sense of tensions simmering and boiling over, both on a personal and global level.” Watch the video here.
Alongside the release of Lonely Dawn, heavy wild have also announced the anticipated news of their signing to Submarine Cat Records! Joining the likes of Swim Deep, FEET and more, this new unity alongside the single release marks the start of an enthralling new chapter for the band.
heavy wild are gearing up to play a run of headline shows, starting tomorrow at Hitchin’s Club 85.
