It’s been a phenomenal week for chart-topping Ivor Novello winner Passenger, first attracting a crowd of hundreds for an impromptu busking set outside the Tate Modern and then selling out a huge and unforgettable homecoming show at Hove Park. Now a big week continues as he shares the new song ‘Boomerang’, together with a cinematic official video. The song features on his upcoming album ‘Wild Love’, which follows on November 6th. Listen HERE.
‘Boomerang’ is already a fan favourite, with many requesting its release following an early demo that was posted to socials three years ago as well as its inclusion in recent live shows. The oldest song to feature on the new album, ‘Boomerang’ is a plea for change – and, as it turns out, became a harbinger for the next stage in his life. Unexpectedly, Passenger found love, married and became a father – the story and the emotions that came with it are documented throughout the ‘Wild Love’ album.
Passenger – Mike Rosenberg – says, “I wrote this song during lockdown (said every musician ever) and poured all of my restless and anxious energy into it, I was tired of ‘Groundhog Day’ – the monotony of it all – and tried to boil down the things that I wanted and perhaps didn’t feel that I had at that time, To live a good life, to love and be loved and to feel a sense of inner peace, things that I guess most of us are all striving for. I think that’s what makes the song relatable hopefully.”
The accompanying ‘Boomerang’ video was filmed in the scenic harbour village of Polperro, Cornwall. Passenger portrays a fisherman, whose routine of early starts, long days at sea, and winding down in the pub also has a touch of ‘Groundhog Day’ about it. But the simplicity of his life is also its beauty: hard work done in one of the most gorgeous natural environments that Britain has to offer.
The video was directed by Nic Minns, his latest Passenger collab after also working on the recent visual for ‘It Was Gonna Be You’.
‘Wild Love’ is available to pre-order / pre-save HERE. In addition to its digital release, stunning physical formats include a gatefold coloured vinyl in two exclusive colours, a natural and a white vinyl available from select indie stores, and a Deluxe hardcover book CD.
Passenger recently announced details of the 2027 ‘Wild Love’ tour which spans the UK, Ireland and Europe. Strong demand across all dates has included his fastest ever sales for a show in Amsterdam. The dates are below, remaining tickets are available HERE.
