German Punk Force Melonball – Releases New Single + Video ”Ally or Alibi” you can read our review here

With “Ally Or Alibi” German punk outfit Melonball deliver a sharp, emotionally charged single that balances urgency with introspection. Known for blending melodic punk energy with socially conscious themes, the band once again prove they’re not just loud for the sake of it, they’re saying something, and they mean it.

From the opening bars, the track hits with brisk tempos, driving guitars, and a rhythm section that pushes relentlessly forward. There’s a raw immediacy to the sound, but it’s tightly controlled rather than chaotic, showing a band confident in their craft. The production keeps things punchy and direct, allowing the song’s momentum to remain front and center without sanding down its punk edge.

The track tackles the uncomfortable grey area between performative support and genuine solidarity. The title itself poses a challenge, forcing listeners to question where they stand when it actually matters. Melonball don’t moralize from a distance, instead the lyrics feel confrontational in the best way, holding a mirror up to apathy, excuses, and selective outrage. It’s political without being preachy, emotional without becoming melodramatic.

The vocals are especially effective, delivering lines with a mix of frustration, urgency, and vulnerability that feels authentic rather than rehearsed. Gang style backing vocals and well placed melodic hooks ensure the message sticks long after the final chorus fades.

“Ally Or Alibi” is a reminder of what punk does best, questioning comfort, demanding accountability, and turning personal reflection into collective energy. Melonball continue to refine their sound while staying true to the genre’s core spirit, making this single both a rallying cry and a standout addition to their growing catalog.

“Ally Or Alibi” scores an nice 8 out of 10

Rating: 8 out of 10.

Track appears on upcoming album Take Care, out February 27, 2026 via Thousand Islands Records / Rookie Records
