Following on from the release of his EP ‘Travelling’, Finnian returns with his new single “Remember My Name”.
Straight off the bat, “Remember My Name” feels like a new chapter for Finnian. He told me he was experimenting with sounds on this one and you can hear it immediately. There’s a hazy Americana tone in the opening melody that feels both familiar and fresh, like he’s found a new pocket that still fits perfectly within his storytelling style. If I didn’t already know his earlier work, I’d swear this was his natural lane.

The track unfolds as a heartland rock ballad soaked in feeling. Lyrically, it’s fairly honest and intimate, telling the heartbreaking story of a partner living with dementia, but instead of leaning into that sorrow, Finnian gives that experience life through a truly beautiful track. Above everything else, this is really such a genuine piece.
The production is tight and confident. The emotional balance is spot on too. It’s reflective, but not weighed down by grief. There’s this sense of resilience threaded through the chorus lines. “Remember My Name” might be a sonic departure for Finnian, but it’s a strong one. It’s heartfelt, mature, and shows a clear evolution in both sound and storytelling. If this is the direction he’s heading before returning to his usual roots, it’s a promising stop along the way.
