Even with the small matter of Oasis reuniting across the city, Evan Honer fans had no trouble deciding where to be last night, The Academy was packed. It was clear this crowd was here for him, the phones were out, merch on, lyrics memorised. Dublin showed up.
Wells Ferrari opened the night with a set that caught a few first-timers off guard. They were genuinely hilarious, bouncing off the crowd like seasoned pros, but when it came to the music, it was no joke. These lads had killer vocals. All wrapped up in a band that looked like they were having as much fun as the fans. If anyone arrived not knowing who they were, they left converted.
Then Evan strolls on. Casually. And does a full backflip. As you do. What a way to introduce yourself. From that moment on, it was hit after hit. One of the standout moments came when he brought out viral TikTok star Amiee Carty for their rendition of her hit Two Days into College. The crowd lapped it up!
By the time he got to Better off Lonely, after belting out the likes of “Take me as I come” and “Too Far Gone” the Academy crowd were so loud. But he wasn’t done there, the encore brought the absolutely stunning “Mr. Myers” and the crowd favourite “IDK Shit about Cars”, and the whole floor nearly came unglued. From start to finish, Evan proved why he’s one of the most exciting names on the rise. Backflip included.
