Dublin indie rock artist ALKY’s – star continues to rise with the release of his latest song ‘Another Piece Of Me’ you can now read our review here

Dublin indie-rock artist ALKY returns with his brand-new single ”Another Piece Of Me”, a punchy, guitar-driven track that’s out now on all your usual streaming platforms.

Clocking in at just under three minutes, this track wastes no time making an impact. From the confidence of the opening riff, it moves with purpose, it’s up-tempo, melodic, and rhythmically sharp, without ever feeling rushed. While you can definitely hear ALKY leaning into influences like U2, The Smiths, and The National, he still carves out something that feels his own. You’ll hear it in the gritty guitar tones, the clean layering of drums, and most of all in the way his vocals ride the beat and tempo with ease.

Lyrically, “Another Piece Of Me” digs into emotional distance and the messiness that comes with that “I never meant to make a mess / When I told you that I’m a shadow of myself” is a line that stuck with me from my first listen. The delivery of that line is clever as the tempo dips just enough to let the words sink in. There’s vulnerability in the lyrics, but it’s never self-indulgent. Instead, it just feels real and in the moment.

ALKY’s vocals carry the weight of it all. That same moody charm that worked so well on Goodbye Lover is back again, maybe even more refined. His voice knows when to soar and when to pull back, particularly effective in the final section of the track, where a brief instrumental shift leads into the striking closer: “When I lean into your arms / Baby, I feel nothing at all”. It’s cold, it’s cutting, and it stays with you.

While short, the song doesn’t feel incomplete. There’s room to breathe, clever use of space, and an understanding of how to pace a track without losing momentum. The production is lean but layered and it feels like there’s intention behind every second.

”Another Piece Of Me” feels like another step up for ALKY, there’ll no doubt be more eyes (and ears) on him soon. We give this track a strong 8/10 and look forward to hearing more releases from him soon!

Rating: 8 out of 10.
