Day three of Beyond The Pale Festival – live gallery and review from Glendalough Estate, Co. Wicklow 15.06.2025

There was a notable lull coming into the final day of the festival. The organisers had obviously anticipated a few hurt heads on Sunday as the lineup was noticeably more mellow to try and ease the patrons into their last day onsite, but the energy picked up to normal levels by the late afternoon. The weather had taken a more positive turn to close out the weekend on a high. Highly anticipated acts of the day included The Gurriers, Samantha Mumba and TV on the Radio. The Gurriers were definitely the highlight of the day in my opinion. Despite the sound system cutting, not once but three times in their set, this group powered on with a professionalism that was so impressive given the circumstances. The first time they laughed off, but by the third interruption it was clear they were concerned about their set being cut short. Frontman Dan Hoff, is known for his energetic presence and was visibly in his absolute element in front of the audience which met him with the same levels of enthusiasm. At one point, Hoff jumped off stage joining fans on the barrier for two songs and despite having the music cut off mid-song, in this arguably vulnerable position, he continued to banter with the audience and carried on as if nothing had happened once the music had restarted.

Samantha Mumba, arguably one of the most publicised acts of the weekend was twenty-five minutes late for her set, which meant her set was incredibly shortened. Despite a fun appearance by her daughter onstage and the inclusion of her notable songs, including a remixed version of her 2025 Eurosong entry, it was undoubtedly not what her fans had expected to see on this occasion, and was no doubt disappointing to anyone who had looked forward to a full set from her. The day ended with TV on the Radio, who closed the festival with such energy, definitely a performance to remember.

Overall, as someone who like many others, was doubtful of whether the festival would even happen this year, I had such an incredible time capturing all the onstage action, the great variety of acts and the infectious atmosphere of all the lovely crowd that turned up. I hope this is a festival that lasts the test of time, and I hope to see it go from strength to strength in the next few years with the recently added investment.
