Dàwna is back with a new track today and it’s an emotional masterpiece. When I first heard ‘In My Heart’ I thought on the surface, it’s everything you’d expect from Dàwna, gorgeous vocals, dreamy production, a beautiful sense of space. But once you tune into the lyrics properly it becomes something else entirely.
This isn’t just a beautiful song. It’s a deeply emotional, raw piece of music that quietly opens up a world of loss, memory, and love that lingers beyond presence. With lyrics like “They say that time heals all wounds, they say that I will see you again soon, they say that you dance among the stars” you can’t help but feel the weight of this track. It’s like someone gently saying the thing you’ve been trying not to think about.
What I love about this track is how Dàwna has this talent of putting such a meaningful message across so beautifully. Sometimes it’s hard to unravel thoughts and put them into something understandable and concise but Dàwna does it with ease here. The first listen through, it might sound like a tender ballad. The second time, it hurts but in a good way. It’s the kind of song that makes you pause whatever you’re doing and just sit with it. If you’ve ever lost someone, or even just missed someone so much it aches, In My Heart brings that feeling front and centre without being too heavy-handed.
Dàwna has always had a way of creating music that feels honest and comforting, but this one really pushes deeper. And for me, that’s the mark of a great artist: someone who can make you feel something real, maybe even something you weren’t ready to feel today. This track put me in a place I didn’t expect to go, but one I’m grateful for revisiting. Beautifully done.
‘In My Heart’ scores its self an 8 out of 10
