David Gray / The Divine Comedy – Past & Present tour live gallery and review from Fairview Park Dublin 17.06.2026

Fairview Park, Dublin played host to a truly memorable night of music on 17 June 2026 as David Gray brought his Past & Present tour to the capital, with a wonderfully fitting support slot from The Divine Comedy. With the summer sun slowly setting over the northside venue, the evening delivered a blend of nostalgia, exceptional songwriting, and performances that reminded everyone why both artists have remained such cherished figures in the musical landscape.

The Divine Comedy had the honour of opening the night and wasted no time in winning over the Dublin crowd. Kicking off with the timeless “Something for the Weekend”, it was a moment of pure joy for long time fans, and the perfect way to start the evening. The momentum continued immediately with “Becoming More Like Alfie” two classic tracks back-to-back that felt like an early gift to those who arrived in time for the first notes.

Across their concise but hugely satisfying 13 song set, there were plenty more highlights. “Have You Ever Been in Love”, “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter”, and “Generation Sex” showcased the wit, intelligence, and unmistakable charm that have defined the band’s catalogue for decades. Naturally, “National Express” was greeted with a huge response, with the audience more than happy to sing along to one of the most recognisable songs of their career. It was a support performance that could easily have been a headline show in its own right.

David Gray took to the stage and opened with “Singing for the Pharaoh”, immediately establishing the intimate connection he has always shared with his audience. He then surprised and delighted the crowd with a fantastic rendition of Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough”, putting his own distinctive stamp on a much-loved classic.

Over the course of a 21-song set, Gray expertly balanced material from across his career. The Past & Present concept was perfectly realised, allowing fans to revisit beloved favourites while also appreciating the depth of his songwriting beyond the obvious hits. His voice remained as expressive and emotionally powerful as ever, and the warmth between artist and audience was evident throughout the evening.

The inclusion of carefully chosen cover versions added another layer of enjoyment to the performance, demonstrating Gray’s ability not only as a songwriter but as an interpreter of other artists’ work. Every song felt considered, every arrangement purposeful, and the atmosphere in Fairview Park was one of appreciation from start to finish.

On a night where two of the finest acts played the same stage, Dublin was treated to a concert rich in melodies, memories, and moments to treasure. The Past & Present tour proved exactly what its title promised, a celebration of where David Gray has come from and a reminder of why his music continues to resonate today.
