The Ambassador Theatre in Dublin played host to a truly electrifying night of music, laughter, and unapologetic weirdness as Icelandic synth-pop sensation Daði Freyr brought his The Sensual, Seductive & Sexy Tour to town. Accompanied by Australian art-pop artist Montaigne as the opening act, the show was a vibrant celebration of individuality, sound, and spectacle and it made for an unforgettable night.

Montaigne kicked off the evening. Performing songs from their latest album It’s Hard to Be a Fish, Montaigne captivated the crowd with a unique blend of art pop that felt simultaneously playful and profound. The standout moment of their set came with Talking Shit, a song that effortlessly combined sharp lyrics with a catchy, offbeat arrangement. They also treated the audience to favorites like Don’t Break Me and Technicolour, which showcased their commanding stage presence. For someone unfamiliar with Montaigne’s work, the performance was a pleasant surprise and left a strong impression.

But the main event of the night was, of course, Daði Freyr. Known internationally for his quirky Eurovision hit Think About Things, Daði delivered a set that was so much more than just a series of songs, it was a full-blown audiovisual experience.
From the moment he stepped on stage, Daði had the audience in the palm of his hand. Though the venue was initially seated, by the third song the seats were effectively forgotten as the crowd jumped to their feet, dancing along to every synth-laced beat. The energy in the room was electric, and it was clear that this wasn’t just a concert, it was a party.

Musically, Daði’s performance was top-tier. His signature blend of retro-inspired synth-pop and modern electronic dance had the entire theatre moving. Each song was accompanied by vibrant visuals tailored to the rhythm and mood of the track. The visuals weren’t just a background feature they were an integral part of the performance, enhancing the experience and drawing the audience deeper into Daði’s neon-tinted world.
What truly set the night apart, however, was Daði’s sense of humour. Between songs, he engaged with the audience in a way that felt completely natural, delivering a steady stream of jokes and offbeat commentary that had the venue in stitches. His comedic timing was so sharp that one couldn’t help but think, if the music ever falls through (though there’s no danger of that happening), Daði could easily make a career in stand-up. His charisma was infectious, and his ability to make everyone in the room feel included and entertained was a rare gift.

The venue itself, The Ambassador Theatre, was another highlight of the night. Having recently returned to the live music scene after a long hiatus, it proved to be the perfect backdrop for a show like this. The acoustics were excellent, the space was intimate without feeling cramped, and there was a sense of excitement in the air at seeing such a beloved venue come back to life.

For a first-time experience seeing both Montaigne and Daði Freyr, the night couldn’t have gone better. Both artists brought something unique to the stage, and together they created a concert that felt fresh, fun, and full of heart. Whether you’re a fan of synth-pop, art-pop, or just live music done right, this tour is absolutely worth catching.
