DÅÅTH – present their rendition of “Run” by French electronic duo Air, featuring Cynic‘s Paul Masvidal

Progressive death metal outfit DÅÅTH presents their rendition of “Run,” by French electronic duo Air, featuring Cynic‘s Paul Masvidal. The track comes in advance of the band‘s European tour with labelmates Rivers Of Nihil as well as Cynic and Beyond Creation, set to begin later this week.

Elaborates guitarist Eyal Levi, “Our version of Air‘s ’Run‘ has been a long time coming. It‘s a creepy, weird song I‘ve wanted to cover since I first heard it. Back in 2009, while touring with Cynic, I heard Paul Masvidal‘s vocoder vocals every night and knew we needed him on this cover. He agreed, but by the time we started planning, DÅÅTH was on hiatus, and the idea was shelved.

“Fast forward to now: we‘re touring with Cynic again on the Aggressive Progressive European tour with Rivers Of Nihil and Beyond Creation. Perfect time to revisit the song, and thankfully, Paul agreed. This is a weird song. If you haven‘t heard it, listen to the original, then ours. To do it justice, we needed an unconventional mix that could also go full metal. Gautier Serre, of Igorrr, was the obvious choice. If he can handle Igorrr, he can handle this — and being French, he already knew the song. The result is truly unique. If you‘re expecting pure extreme metal, you might be disappointed — and that‘s fine, because we do what we want. See you on tour!”

DÅÅTH released their critically adored The Deceivers full-length via Metal Blade Records last Spring. The Deceivers earned the #11 spot on Billboard‘s Current Hard Music Albums chart upon its first week of release. Blabbermouth lauded “a modern metal record aimed squarely at connoisseurs and tech freaks, but it also has some huge tunes and barrels of charisma.” MetalSucks gushed, “The Deceivers is destined to go down as a career highlight for DÅÅTH, a jewel in their crown if ever there was one. It really is that good, simple as that.” Metal Injection championed “an epic and rhythmic prog album,” while Knotfest observed, “Each track is a labyrinth of complex rhythms and searing melodies, offering a rich auditory experience. The technical skill and compositional daring make it a standout in the metal community.”
