Australia’s newest pop sensation Lyric – flirts on new single ‘Make a Move’

Australia’s newest pop sensation, Lyric makes a bold return with her infectious new single ‘Make a Move’, a cheeky, flirtatious anthem that revels in the thrill of the chase and the power of knowing you’ve got the upper hand. With the recent success of her sold-out Great Southern Nights show in Sydney, an upcoming UK headline tour, and an addition to the Spilt Milk lineup, this next single is sure to take the 21-year-old’s career to new heights.

The playful track details power play as she toys with a secret admirer, and knows she has the upper hand. “On my last tour, I covered ‘Red Wine Supernova’ by Chappell Roan, and I felt so confident and powerful singing that song on stage, so I really wanted to write a song that would give me that same feeling. It’s definitely the most self-assured song I’ve ever written, which was really refreshing”

Produced entirely by Lyric herself, the empowering song features eccentric pop production – complete with shimmering triangle chimes in the chorus, a groovy disco-inspired bassline, and lush vocal harmonies – making for a super playful and lively sound. Lyric says it is “definitely the most upbeat song I have ever produced, and it was really fun to get to experiment with some different, more quirky sounds”.

2024 was a big year for Lyric, having gained support from triple j and Rolling Stone, plus she supported pop legends GriffAngie McCahonBeth McCarthy, and Mallrat. Lyric has gone from being a young music lover who created fan pages of her favourite artists to now cultivating a community who have made pages of her(!). These fans sold out her Australian debut tour in 24 hours and queued for the best part of the day to be at the barrier to watch her perform brilliance.

After a massive start to 2025, Lyric shows no signs of slowing down, with a string of new singles and an upcoming live leg in the UK & Ireland.  She will be kicking off her tour in Dublin on 11th July, followed by dates at GlasgowManchester (recent venue upgrade) and ending with a SOLD-OUT show at London’s The Lower Third on Friday 18th July. Remaining tickets here.

Excited to share ‘Make a Move’ Lyric says: “the fans are going to really get into this song when it’s played live, and I can’t wait to hear them scream it in a room where we all get to feel confident and empowered together. It’s definitely going to become a tour favourite; I just know.”
