Nu-gen trailblazer Cassyette today releases new single ‘Over It’, lifted from her highly anticipated debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’, out August 23rd 2024 via 23 Recordings.
Following a huge UK and European headline tour, including sold out dates in London, Paris, Amsterdam and more, Cassyette has shared her newest single ‘Over It’. A candid expression of coming to terms with her past behavioural patterns after failed relationships, the track sees layers of grungy instrumental, soft counter melodies, and pleading vocals that are the perfect Y2K-esque track. and continue to push the boundaries of who Cassyette can be.
Speaking about her newest single, Cassyette said: “Over it’ came to me the day after I wrote my song ‘Mayhem’- it was like a part two of the song. I actually left it for a while and came back to it a year later, unable to let the song go, I realised I wasn’t able to let the feelings go either.
It feels very much like it’s had a few different life cycles. When I finally allowed myself to be honest with my feelings, ‘Over it’ was born. The song is about the times I have found myself repeating the same patterns of limerence over and over again after failing relationships. It’s about the convoluted cluster-fuck of thoughts and feelings I find my self going over and over as a chronic over-thinker in love.”
‘Over It’ is the fourth track lifted from Cassyette’s highly anticipated debut album, ‘This World Fucking Sucks’, and follows previous tracks ‘Why Am I LIke This?’, ‘Ipecac’, and most recently ‘When She Told Me’. The coming-of-age record is Cassyette’s most personal to date, and an anthology of collected feelings that address the nature of living in today’s society. Cassyette holds nothing back on this record as she tackles a range of complex subject matters from grief to substance abuse, nihilism and more. Sonically, expect to hear Cassyette effortlessly blend genres as she blurs the lines of rock, pop, metal, drum ’n’ bass and more like never seen before.
Speaking about her debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ Cassyette said: “I’m so excited for the release of my first album. I’ve put in so much work and I’ve collaborated with so many amazing and talented people and I’m so grateful to see it brought to life. Since my Dad’s passing, I’ve tried my best to not surrender to the darkness that comes with grief. It’s from that darkness that ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ was born, and I really hope to do him proud, and that anyone that’s going through the same thing takes comfort in listening to it. We’re in this together.”
Later this summer Cassyette will also join Bryan Adams for a string of outdoor summer shows, in addition to festival appearances. Full tour dates can be found below and limited tickets are still available here: https://www.cassyette.co.uk/tour
