BEABADOOBEE – has announced her third studio album ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’

BEABADOOBEE has announced her third studio album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, will be released via her long standing label Dirty Hit on 16 August. The album finds Beabadoobee stepping up to a new level in her abilities as a songwriter, crafting arresting melodies and pushing herself to develop and explore new frontiers of vulnerability, both in her storytelling and her relationship with herself.

Produced by the legendary Rick Rubin and long term collaborator and bandmate Jacob Bugden, Beabadoobee swapped her bedroom for his infamous Shangri-La studio in Malibu to create a deeply self-assured record with a vast sonic scope of rock and pop.

She also shares the album’s lead single Take A Bite, complete with a slick video directed by Jake Erland. Comprised of taut guitars, piano and a cascade of soft vocals, Take A Bite contemplates a desire for chaos and the self-awareness of bringing past negative cycles into something new, but still indulging in them anyway.

Of the single, Beabadoobee explains: “It’s me feeling introspective about my thoughts and my unhealthy way of living. It’s finding comfort in a familiar place – finding comfort in chaos because that’s what I know. So I bring it into every aspect of my life, especially with relationships. And it’s just tapping into this part of my brain where I just jump straight to the most negative, most chaotic thoughts ever known to man and make that into my reality.”

This summer will see Beabadoobee debut new music on some of the UK’s biggest stages – headlining the New Music stage at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend, headlining the BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, and as main support for Mitski at London’s All Points East Festival. This follows her main support slot on the opening North American leg of Taylor Swift’s record breaking Eras Tour.

This Is How Tomorrow Moves stands as a testament to Beabadoobee’s artistic evolution and resilience, marking a significant milestone in her career. It captures a journey through confidence and introspection, with themes of self-acceptance and personal growth woven throughout; in parts a love letter to her younger self and all that she’s been through.

On This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Beabadoobee is comfortable in taking the reins of this next stage of her life: “I love this album,” she says simply, “I feel like it’s helped me so much more than anything else has in navigating this new era, this new understanding of where I’m at. I guess it’s about becoming a woman.”

I think I’m more aware of my actions in these songs,” she adds. “In my previous records, I would consistently sing about my reaction towards other people’s doings, like a blame game. But in this record, it’s accepting that there’s an inevitability of my fault in there too. Whether it’s childhood trauma or relationship issues, it takes two to tango in everything.”
