The High Kings have just had the biggest year of their career. Two of their tracks featured in Sinners, the highest-grossing film of 2025, which went on to secure Grammy and Oscar nominations and wins. Now, riding that momentum, the band return with their most ambitious and galvanising single to date.
The Irish Roar is a bold departure and a natural evolution at once. Steeped in Irish heroism, passion and defiant spirit, it arrives as the first release from their forthcoming 9th studio album and signals exactly where this band is headed.
Driven by a guttural chant, a call to gather, a call to rise, The Irish Roar captures the emotion of a nation that has continually defied expectation. Ireland, long perceived as the small country on the edge of Europe, has consistently punched above its weight. With just over seven million people on the island, yet a global diaspora of more than 70 million worldwide, Irish identity extends far beyond its shores.
This is more than a song. It is a rallying cry for anyone who is Irish, of Irish heritage, or simply feels connected to the spirit of Ireland.
Speaking about the release, The High Kings said:
“The Irish Roar is about identity and belonging. It’s about that feeling in your chest when you hear the anthem, see the flag, or stand shoulder to shoulder with your own. Ireland has always been called the underdog, but time and time again we rise. This song is a call to assemble, a call to believe, and a reminder that no matter where in the world you are, if you carry Ireland in your heart, you’re part of something powerful.”
Their previous album The Road Not Taken achieved over 14 million streams in its first year, reaching number one for independent albums in Ireland, number one in Folk, and number two across all genres in the USA. It topped the charts on Amazon Germany and iTunes in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The last year also saw groundbreaking collaborations and high-profile placements, including a stirring duet with Journey frontman Steve Perry on The Streets of Kinsale, a powerful stadium performance with Jon Batiste, and a coveted placement on Disney’s critically acclaimed Only Murders in the Building.
The Irish Roar is the sound of a band at the height of their powers, backed by the biggest cultural moment of their career, and ready to bring it to the world.
