Kilkenny was shaken to its core on Saturday July 5th as Cleere’s Bar and Theatre hosted a night of raw aggression and unforgettable energy with performances from death metal newcomer Necrotized and hardcore heavyweights Worn Out.
Kicking off the night was Necrotized, a one-man death metal act making his live debut in front of a sold-out crowd. Performing solo in a genre that thrives on intensity is no easy feat, but Necrotized delivered with unrelenting force. The precision and brutality of his sound filled the room and set the tone for what was to come. For a debut, it was remarkably confident and judging by the crowd’s reaction, this is only the beginning for Necrotized.
Headliners Worn Out wasted no time unleashing chaos. Known for their blend of metal and hardcore, they tore through a fast and furious set that never let up. The band’s lead vocalist commanded the room or more accurately, the crowd by spending much of the set offstage, crowd surfing, hanging from the venue ceiling, and drawing every ounce of energy from the audience. There may have been no official setlist, but every track landed like a punch to the gut, with the crowd matching the intensity note for note.
There’s something powerful about seeing a local act take their first steps on stage and a seasoned one turn a small venue into a warzone of noise and adrenaline. This show was a reminder of why the underground metal and hardcore scenes matter.
Highly recommended for fans of the hardcore/deathmetal scene.
