Virgins / Vankil Echoes / Apropos – Irish B l o o m s tour live gallery & review from Spirit Store Dundalk 09.05.25

Belfast shoegaze up and coming noise makers Virgins played the Spirit Store in Dundalk on Friday 9th May as part of their current tour.

Support came from Apropos and Vankil Echoes.

Apropos opened the night with their own brand of rock,  a personal highlight was a down and dirty cover of ‘The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac.

Vankil Echoes is the new band fronted by ex The Flaws singer Paul Finn, and they are definitely one to watch. Having already released the ear worm that is ‘Migrane’ they played like a band who have been together for a long time, bringing their 00’s influenced guitar driven songs to life and Finn proving that he is just as great as ever.

Shoegaze seems to have been on the rise again over the last few years, and personally I think this is a great thing. Virgins are one of the better acts I’ve seen in this genre, mixing female dreamy vocals with loud fuzz ridden guitars and vast sonic soundscapes. If you are even interested in shoegaze music, they would be a great place to start.

Their current tour has just ended but judging by the amount of noise they’re making off the stage, I doubt it’ll be too long before you get to see them again, and I recommend you do.
