Villagers / Sea Power – (That Golden Time tour) Summer Series, Trinity College Dublin 29.06.2024

Dublin seemed to have its busiest day ever on Saturday, June 29th. Hundreds of thousands of people braved the weather and lined the streets for Pride, night two of Taylor Swift, two GAA quarter finals, The Saw Doctors, those celebrating freedom following the end of the school year, or simply those in for a nose around the shops on a Saturday.

“There’s talk of about 600,000 people being up today in the city,” one Garda said of the crowds.

Among the madness, tucked away on the cricket pitches of Trinity College, were a crowd of adoring fans eagerly awaiting Conor O’Brien’s Villagers, as the much-loved Irish folk band took to the Dublin 2 venue with their biggest headline show to date, celebrating the release of ‘That Golden Time’.

To begin the night, support came from a 45-minute set from English rock band Sea Power.

Then, following a rocking set which had the crowd well and truly warmed up, Villagers frontman O’Brien took to the stage at 8:45, along with Kevin Corcoran on keys, Brendan Jenkinson on synths, Brendan Doherty on drums, and Danny Snow on bass.

In a concert spanning almost two hours, the band performed hits from their 15-year-long career, with songs from their 2010 debut mixed in with songs released just weeks ago.

Catch Villagers this Winter as the band take their ‘That Golden Time’ tour across 13 cities both here in Ireland, and overseas in the UK.
