Then came Under Starling, stepping onto the stage, there was a clear presence switch. There’s something about the way they carry themselves—confident and polished but still approachable and real. From the first note of “Hawthorn Tree,” you could tell they’re operating on a different level. The mix of moody atmospherics and soaring melodies hit hard, setting the tone for a set that showed off just how versatile they are.
Tracks like “The Hunger” brought an emotional weight, blending storytelling with killer instrumentation, while “Rat King” flipped the vibe completely—darker, heavier, and full of bite. I took a moment to stand back during this song and it was very easy to imagine it being sung to thousands of fans.
Under Starling aren’t just playing gigs; they’re building something bigger. The way they handle themselves and the sheer quality of their sound wouldn’t look out of place on a much larger stage. But on this night they kept it local, connecting with their audience, and proving why they’re one of Ireland’s most exciting up-and-coming bands.
