Trout releases her brand new single bone – her first new music since 2023’s critically praised debut EP Colourpicker. Written following a move from Liverpool to the South Coast, bone captures the restless ache of feeling stuck, and the quiet desperation for change.
Colourpicker established Trout as one of the most exciting up and coming artists, earning praise from the likes of Dork, Wonderland, DIY and The Line of Best Fit alongside airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X. With bone, she deepens her signature sound – a raw, grunge-inflected blend of scuzzy guitars and gentle electronic twists, wrapped around lyrics that cut close to the skin.
On bone, Trout says:
“bone was written after an argument/conversation with someone I really care about, and having the realisation that ‘’I might be the problem”, and consequently reflecting and rethinking my actions, feeling regret and wanting to change. The song is kind of an apology letter to this person, and me trying to take responsibility for my actions, even though “I feel much better when I’m not the one to blame”. This is the song I’m most proud of production-wise, and I really went to town on it. It’s a bit chaotic bit I was having fun trying new things out”
