The Wran play sold out show at Bakers Bar Clonmel.
The Wran made a highly anticipated return to Bakers Bar as part of Clonmel World Music last night, and it’s safe to say the crowd was more than ready. I had seen the lads play this venue earlier in the year and this time around was just as good if not better. The venue was completely sold out, something that is sure to become a regular occurrence for the group. The energy in the room was great as people moved around looking for the perfect vantage point to catch one of Ireland’s hottest new bands.
Fresh off a summer run that saw them play all the major festivals, including Glastonbury and Electric Picnic, The Wran arrived on stage sounding as amazing as always. I’m not exaggerating when I say that these guys are some of the most talented artists in Ireland right now. There’s nothing else like them around and gigs like last night prove exactly why they’ve become one of the most talked-about acts on the Irish scene right now.
The Clonmel crowd gave them the kind of reception you’d expect for a band who’ve just played some of the biggest stages in Europe, but here it was far more intimate and connected. It felt like the perfect reminder that these guys can play massive stages, intimate venues and as I’ve seen for myself over the summer, two or three gigs a day. Amazing stuff!
The Wran now move on to Listowel on September 27th before their full November tour, which will see them hit Donegal, Dundalk, Waterford, Dublin, Galway, and Cork. Those dates are not to be missed, this is a band at the top of their game and only getting stronger.
