The Meffs / The Gakk – What A Life tour live gallery & review from Up-stairs Whelans Dublin 12.04.2025

The must-see live sensation (no exaggeration) that are The Meffs brought their What A Life tour to an end at the up-stairs venue at Whelans of Dublin and man did they end things with a bang! I saw this band not to long ago opening for Frank Turner in Dublin and knew then that I had to see them headline their own show and eagerly awaited this night.

This Britpunk act might only have two members but believe me they make as much noise as any four or five piece band would and maybe its just as well thats theres only the two of them as it gives Lily Hopkins the room to use the stage as her own playground and she does that in frantic style by pacing/running/jumping on every available inch.

Last night came with an added bonus and that was a guest appearance from Meryl Streek who had been on tour and opening for the band in Europe, but last night he guested on the tune ”Everything’s Gone” he burst on to the stage out of nowhere and in true Merly still he dominated the stage and then was gone as quick as he had appeared. Ooooh and they play a dam good version of ”Breath” by The Prodigy.

If you have not yet seen The Meffs I urge you to do yourself a favour and do so soon before these guys blow up and start playing in well deserve larger venues.

Open the night were original five-piece punk band from Dundalk, The Gakk another punk act well worth catching live as they play good old traditional punk/ska/reggae tunes and dont disappoint.
