Irish folk powerhouse The High Kings have today released “The Rocky Road to Dublin – The Celtic Remix”, a turbo-charged reimagining of the traditional classic that first won global attention after featuring in the hit 2024 film Sinners. The song quickly became a viral fan favorite, sparking a resurgence of interest in Irish folk among new audiences worldwide. Now, with a driving Celtic beat and the unmistakable High Kings harmonies, the band brings a brand-new version of the song to life—one that’s set to electrify fans across generations and genres.
“Releasing this reimagined version of Rocky Road to Dublin is so exciting for us”, the band shared. “We never expected the reaction Sinners had received, but it’s been incredible to see so many new fans across the world connecting with Irish folk music in such a big way. Our Celtic remix takes things up a notch—it’s bold, energetic, and hopefully it’s exactly what they’ve been waiting for”.
This latest release follows the band’s chart-topping 2023 album The Road Not Taken, which has already surpassed 14 million streams and topped folk and independent charts across Europe and North America. The single also builds on the success of previous cross-genre collaborations, including the platinum-certified remix “Step It Out Mary” with Irish DJ Fahri Mac, and further cements The High Kings’ reputation as fearless innovators in the folk music space.
For more than 15 years, The High Kings have been leading a global resurgence of Irish folk music, captivating audiences with their rousing harmonies, infectious energy, and unmistakable Celtic spirit. Originally brought together to carry forward the storytelling legacy of Ireland’s great balladeers, the group has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, blending traditional roots with bold contemporary flair. Their influence has stretched far beyond the stage, positioning them as cultural ambassadors for Irish music and identity.
Over the years, The High Kings have performed for global dignitaries including U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, the British Prime Minister, and crowds of up to 30,000—most notably at Notre Dame Stadium in 2024. From headlining the Isle of Wight Festival to lighting up Glastonbury, Times Square, and London’s Trafalgar Square on St. Patrick’s Day, their live performances are as legendary as their studio work.
Their eighth studio album, The Road Not Taken, marked a pivotal moment in the band’s journey—debuting at #1 in Ireland’s independent charts, topping iTunes charts in multiple countries, and earning them over 1.6 million monthly Spotify listeners. Collaborations with global stars such as Journey’s Steve Perry, jazz icon Jon Batiste, and Irish legend Mary Black have expanded their reach, while staying true to their core mission: celebrating Irish heritage through powerful, modern folk music.
Now entering a new chapter with the Step It Out World Tour, The High Kings continue to redefine the genre—breathing fresh life into time-honored songs, while bringing Irish culture to sold-out stages across the globe.
