Following the momentum of their recent single I Will Follow, Irish folk-rock band The Fynches return with Find It For Yourself – a toe-tapping ode to self-worth, from their forthcoming self-titled debut album, due for release on October 7th, 2025.
The brainchild of Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (lead vocals and guitar) and Oisín Walsh-Peelo (vocals and keys), The Fynches also comprise Camryn Teehan (drums), Fionn O’Neill (bass), and Julia-Maria (cello). Vocal melodies and soulful keys meet vibrant guitar lines, soaring strings, and a powerful rhythm section.
Find It For Yourself opens with its recurring acoustic riff, before a toe-tapping, rhythmic sway kicks in. As the tune shifts back and forth, warm harmonies rise above the beat, keeping its bright, uplifting folk‑pop energy going strong. With its easy groove and layers of subtle detail, the track carries a hazy, glowing energy from start to finish.
“This one is really just good fun. I had this guitar riff circling around in my head for a long time. I used to jam it and just loved playing it in the open G tuning with a really low dropped C in the bass. It was really rich and full!” says Oisín, speaking on the new release. “Myself and Ferdia got together one day and I taught him the original part and worked out a guitar-mony above it. It was really satisfying to finally have some development on what had really just been a guitar riff.”
The song is inspired by personal reflection, and moments of self-discovery: “We had just spent the weekend at a Buddhist meditation retreat at Dzogchen Beara in West Cork and were full of the ideas about cultivating self-love and acceptance. There was a bit of relationship-related turmoil in both our lives so the lyrics reflect a somewhat cathartic journey whereby one finally realises that the responsibility for our own happiness lies within and not without.”
