The Cacks – “Celebrity” album launch live gallery & review from Spirit Store Dundalk 06.04.2025

The Cacks (along with a bus load of fans) invaded the Spirit Store on Sunday 6th April for an early(ish) gig to a sold out crowd, promoting their new album.

Their blend of Irish trad, folk, blues and pretty much everything else sounded like a bunch of pirates recently discovered Fleetwood Mac or something, in the best possible way.

The 7 members sprawled across the stage, most pulling more than double duty on vocals and multiple instruments, and belted out some old and new songs, each seemingly catchier than the last.

In between songs there was a lot of banter and craic, along with instrument swapping, and they kept everyone in the crowd engaged throughout, notably some of their loyal die hard fans who followed them by bus for the gig.

I kept thinking to myself their practice sessions must be some laugh as you could tell these guys are all real friends and love what they do, along with not taking it too seriously so as to enjoy it no matter what, and that feeling was very infectious as it was obvious the crowd felt the same.

If the gig was anything to go by, their new album should be amazing, and well worth checking out.

I don’t know if they play very often, probably cos getting everyone to a gig is like trying to put an octopus into a Tesco bag, but if you can see them listed anywhere I would highly recommend going along for some good music, good craic and preferably some good Guinness too.
