Stella Donnelly – shares new double-single ‘Baths’/’Standing Ovation’

Beloved Australian artist Stella Donnelly makes a powerful return today, unveiling her first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed 2022 album Flood. Marking an exciting new chapter in her career, Donnelly announces her signing to Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control Records, and returns with new single and video, ‘Baths‘, alongside double A-side sibling, ‘Standing Ovation‘. The double A-side release signals a bold and confident reentry into the music world following a well-earned period of rest and reflection.

Speaking on the signing with Dot Dash Recordings, Stella shares,“It felt like the right time for a reset, creatively, personally, and professionally. I could think of no better home for these songs than Dot Dash. I’m so grateful to have found a team who genuinely believe in the music and have given me the space to explore what this next chapter looks like. I felt very much at home straight away!”.

Director of Labels, Sweetie Zamora adds, “We’ve been fans of Stella’s incredible songwriting since her debut EP Thrush Metal. These new songs hit us right in the heart and I’m deeply thankful that after a period of time away from making music, Stella has returned and trusted Dot Dash to join a new chapter with her.”

After stepping back from touring to re-evaluate her relationship with music, the release of ‘Baths’ / ‘Standing Ovation’ signal a powerful and personal new chapter for the Walyalup/Fremantle artist. Raw, honest, and deeply introspective, ‘Baths’ showcases Donnelly at her most authentic, reconnecting with the songwriting instincts that first captured audiences’ hearts.

Reflecting on the creation of ‘Baths’, Stella shares, “I came up with this melody while I was swimming laps at the Brunswick Baths, the pool filter was making a humming sound on one note which allowed me to sing a melody over the top. It then continued when I got home and had a shower with the bathroom fan on. Both activities made it difficult to write any lyrics down. I finally sat with a keyboard and held a note and it all just came together. A little timeline of my life so far.”

With these two tracks, Stella Donnelly reclaims her voice and creative space, offering listeners a glimpse into the journey she’s taken, and where she might be headed next.
