Irish indie artist Shimmer Boy (Aaron O’Sullivan) returns with his fourth single Mine Again, a direct and clear-eyed release about a pivotal moment of personal transformation. Following the earlier singles Under the Surface, Faith In You, and Brixton, the new track marks a clear turning point in the unfolding story of his debut album In The Aftermath, We Bloom, due for release on 1st July 2026.
Mine Again leans into the quiet process of internal change – shedding old identities, breaking emotional cycles, and stepping into a renewed sense of self. Where previous releases from Shimmer Boy explored rejection, emigration, and creative survival, this latest offering turns inward, capturing the moment where reflection turns to action.
Produced by Brian Casey at Wavefield Studios, the track carries a subtle but unmistakable Irish sensibility – rooted not in cliché, but in atmosphere, tone, and emotional weight.
For Shimmer Boy, Mine Again explores what it means to take ownership of your life again – stepping away from external validation and rebuilding from within, even when that process is uncomfortable.
Speaking about the release, O’Sullivan explains:
“Mine Again is about that moment where you realise you’ve changed – and there’s no going back. It’s about taking responsibility for yourself, your patterns, and choosing to evolve. It’s quiet, but it’s powerful.”
The singlecontinues the momentum of Shimmer Boy’s debut, with initial single Under the Surface featured on season 30 of the hugely popular reality tv series Made in Chelsea – a significant breakthrough moment for the West Cork artist – while recent months have seen a string of successful live shows across Ireland and the UK, including a pop-up performance with Cian Ducrot in Cork earlier this year.
In The Aftermath, We Bloom brings together themes of loss, recovery and starting again. Across the record, O’Sullivan confronts addiction, heartbreak and migration, but the thread running through it is resilience – and learning to move forward without losing yourself in the process. The album lands on 1st July 2026.
From West Cork, Aaron O’Sullivan has explored various musical pursuits since playing DeBarra’s Folk Club every Friday night at the age of 15. Aaron has gigged extensively in Ireland and abroad since his teens, supporting and sharing the stage with the likes of Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy), James Arthur, Cory Wong, Ariel Posen (Vulfpeck/Bros Landreth), Kellie Lewis and Culture Kid, as well as playing guitar with artists such as Oscar Blue, Stephanie Rainey & Harry Hudson Taylor.
Aaron’s songs as Shimmer Boy capture the highs and lows of coming to terms with past mistakes as well as the joy of self-acceptance and new beginnings. This new chapter finds him with a renewed sense of purpose, community and a more peaceful pace of life and creativity.
