Seán Mulrooney – has just released his new solo Single ”Ag Múschlaighacht” you can read our review here

Seán Mulrooney, known for his work with Tau & the Drones of Praise, embarks on a solo journey with his latest single, “Ag Músclaighacht.” This track serves as the lead single from his forthcoming debut album, This Is My Prayer, set for release on February 14, 2025.

“Ag Músclaighacht” translates to “Awakening” in English, and the song encapsulates a profound sense of introspection and renewal. The lyrics, “Whatever happens on this island affects the whole world / It’s good to be mindful with our words / Every thought is a prayer / Every word is a spell,” reflects his deep connection to nature and belief in the power of language. Mulrooney’s emphasis on mindfulness and the ripple effect of actions shine throughout the composition.

Musically, the track blends elements of psych-folk with traditional Irish influences, creating an atmospheric sound. The instrumentation is rich, featuring layered guitars and subtle percussion that complement Mulrooney’s vocals. This fusion of styles showcases his ability to stay true to his roots while also exploring new sonic territories.

The accompanying music video, directed by Mulrooney and Helio Leon, was filmed in County Wicklow. The visuals mirror the song’s themes, presenting a journey through natural landscapes that symbolize personal and collective awakening. The imagery is both serene and powerful.

“Ag Músclaighacht” comes as a significant step in Mulrooney’s artistic evolution. After two decades of musical exploration and a period of solitude in Wicklow, he channels his experiences into a piece that is both personal and also universally relatable as can be seen by the many comments under the music video already. The track invites listeners to reflect on their own journeys and the impact of their words and actions.

In summary, “Ag Músclaighacht” is an interesting, truthful introduction to Seán Mulrooney’s solo endeavors. Its thoughtful lyrics, evocative melodies, and striking visuals combine quite well. We wish Seán all the best in this new chapter of his career and look forward to the full album release.

Ag Músclaighacht get a very well deserved 7.5 out of 10
