Acclaimed musician and actor Sam Palladio has released the video for his new single ‘Bullet For Your Love’ taken from his latest album The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light out now.
‘Bullet For Your Love’ was inspired by a traumatic experience after the trans-Atlantic star and his partner were robbed at gunpoint outside his home in Nashville. The single is a hymnal piano ballad which builds to a soaring crescendo and features additional harmonies and guitar from Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil.
Regarding the single Sam says, “At its heart, ‘Bullet For Your Love’ is a song that for me represents, selflessness, not giving into fear, and the realization that you’d do all in your power to protect someone you love. I wanted to turn a distressing experience into something beautiful, that affirmed the things that meant the most to me.
When someone points a weapon at you and threatens someone you care about, you suddenly feel an instinctual need to protect. Making music as a way of healing and processing my feelings was something new to me, but the creation of this piece started a sequence of songwriting that felt deeply personal and autobiographical.
I worked closely with my musical idol Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro to add his brilliance to my debut album. I’m honoured to say that he lent his beautiful harmonies and guitar to this song.”
Sam’s debut album The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light speaks to the star’s lifelong experience in and around music, his deep immersion in Nashville and heartland Americana, while also retaining his obsessive fandom for rock and guitar music. It also addresses very personal and life changing moments, prompting a diverse record of moving emotions, textures and sounds.
This is further demonstrated in previous singles such as ‘B.O.A.T’ which is a propulsive mix of New Wave energy and Britpop, while ‘Wake Me Up In Nashville’ pulls things back with a delicate acoustic ballad detailing the touching story of his grandfather’s wartime romance, and on another tip ‘Gone Like The Summer’ is a bright breezy indie track co-written with Kaiser Chiefs’ former drummer Nick Hodgson.
Foo Fighter’s Chris Shiflett joins Sam on the album laying down scorching riffs and soloing on ‘Tennessee’, while Simon Neil makes another appearance on the record lending vocals to the anthemic ‘Spill You Heart’.
Both Chris Shiflett and Simon Neil made surprise appearances on stage for duets with Sam at his UK headline shows last year. Sam has announced he is hitting the road again in 2025 and will join The Temperance Movement on their UK tour throughout March and April. Tickets are available here.
Originally from Cornwall, Sam Palladio’s career went on to skyrocket in America with his breakthrough as Gunnar Scott in the TV series Nashville and in 2025 he returns to screens closer to home where he will play the lead role of Jacob in series two of Channel 4’s hit drama The Couple Next Door.
Speaking about his forthcoming role Sam says, “I’m thrilled to join the amazing team at The Couple Next Door. I was drawn to the project through its brilliant writing and challenging characters, and to step into the world of the show which is already loved by fans and bring Jacob to life is really exciting. Having lived in the US since shooting Nashville, it’ll be great to be back on British screens and to explore a troubled and complex character, which is unlike anything I’ve done before.”
2025 is set to be very bright for the multi-faceted singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor who has more exciting announcements to follow soon.
