Ricky Warwick releases new single ‘The Crickets Stayed In Clovis’

Ricky Warwick has released the bittersweet new single ‘The Crickets Stayed In Clovis’, which is about cherishing the moment and not taking life for granted as you never know what’s round the corner.

About the song, Ricky says, “Lyrically, ‘The Crickets Stayed In Clovis’ is about how life can change in the blink of an eye (using the Buddy Holly plane crash as a metaphor). Buddy, had fired his backing band, The Crickets, a few weeks before the ill-fated plane journey that claimed his life and three others. Waylon Jennings was supposed to be on the flight but gave his seat up to the Big Bopper who had the flu and Waylon felt sorry for him. Ritchie Valens flipped a coin with Tommy Allsup for his seat, Ritchie won and lost his life.

“Life’s a game of chance, sometimes it’s better to play the long game and not be envious of others, as you never know what tomorrow brings.”

Ricky “unashamedly fired up the Thin Lizzy harmony guitars on this one” giving the affecting anthem a catchy and unfettered full charge. The video was also filmed at George Best’s family home in Belfast, which adds to the already nostalgic and life affirming vibe.

You can watch a short documentary about the filming of the video here, where Ricky being a huge fan of Best, said it was “amazing and humbling to be filming in here today.”

The new single follows the release of ‘Don’t Leave Me In The Dark’ which sees legendary The Runaways guitarist & famed solo artist Lita Ford joining on vocals duties. Watch the video here.

The track is taken from his new solo album Blood Ties, which will be out on 14th March via Earache Records.

You can pre-order the album here.
