To coincide with making their long-awaited triple j Like A Version debut, putting a horn-infused punk-goes-pop twist on Tate McCrae‘s 2023 chart-busting single’Greedy‘, Sydney-based alt-rock band RedHook have officially announced their sophomore album, ‘Mutation‘ – out Friday, 22nd November 2024 (independently in Australia and internationally via Adventure Cat Records).
Following on from their debut 2023 LP ‘Postcard From A Living Hell’, ‘Mutation’ was produced by Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic) with assistant production from RedHook’s own Craig Wilkinson and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Paramore).
The record will be stacked with previous singles’ Pyromaniac‘, ‘Cannibal‘feat. Alpha Wolf, ‘Breaking Up With‘, ‘Scream 2‘, ‘Tourist‘ and forthcoming single Dr Frankenstein which features our very own UK band Holding Absence. The record sees RedHook double down on everything that makes them one of the most paradigm-shifting bands in the modern heavy space.
Frontwoman Emmy Mack comments:“‘Mutation’ felt like the perfect name for this record because we wanted it to feel like an evolution in every single way, not just in RedHook’s sound, but in the stories we’re telling and the messages behind them. We want to offer new perspectives, challenge old ways of thinking and just double-down on being unapologetically ourselves. RedHook has always felt like a bit of a misfit. A lot of people don’t quite ‘get’ us. But we didn’t make this record for those people. We made it for the ones like us. The misfits, the outliers, the weirdos. We can’t wait for you to hear it.”
