A meeting of musical minds, PostLast x Birthday Problem have come together to bring a new musical perspective on Postlast’s 2024 sophomore single ‘Scavenge’ – a song that garnered a wave of acclaim on it’s initial release, being selected as RTE 2FMTrack of the Week as well as being included in Spotify’s Alternative Ireland editorial playlist.
Birthday Problem is a collaborative electronica project from Matt Harris and Rocky O’Reilly. After a busy year of collaborations with artists such as The Wood Burning Savages, Ailbhe Reddy, Party Fears, Stephen McCauley, and many more, this remix is another shining example of their trademark sound; a haunting, electronic approach that mirrors the anxiety of existence in the modern world.
After a glittering start in 2024, PostLast have a series of remixes of tracks from their debut EP ‘Pull Me Into The Open Sea’ lined up for the coming months, so keep an eye on all things PostLast for some new perspectives on their classic alt-pop soun
PostLast launched in spring of 2024, but Julie and Stephen first connected while completing a joint headline tour of Ireland and the UK in 2017 with their respective bands HAVVK and BARQ. Over the past year, they’ve been writing in secret, preparing each element of their collaboration to be ready for public release in spring 2024. The result is a playful escape into their musical imaginations, utterly unlike either of their previous projects.
‘Scavenge’ is a song about a person in your life who can ground you just by being in the same room. It’s about an unspoken connection that can quieten all of the noise, anxiety and pressure you might be feeling internally; someone who can remind you to simply breathe.
