Pillow Queens brought the house down at Bank Lane, Waterford, on November 23, 2024, with a sell-out show that packed the venue like never before. It was the busiest gig I’ve ever seen there, and the atmosphere was electric from start to finish.
Kicking things off was Patricia Lalor, who set the tone beautifully. Even in such a crowded, high-energy environment, she held her own with tracks like “Mundane,” “All You Do for Me,” and “Selling It Is a Struggle.” Her laid-back, lo-fi vibes drew the audience in, warming everyone up for the main event.
When Pillow Queens hit the stage, the energy skyrocketed. Opening with “Suffer” they immediately had the crowd in the palm of their hands. The setlist was a perfect mix of old favorites and newer tracks, showing off their knack for heartfelt lyrics and big, anthemic sounds. Songs like “So Kind” and “One Night” were met with loud cheers while “Rats” and “Liffey” had the entire room moving.
The connection between the band and the audience was special – you could feel it in the air, every one here had their eyes trained on the band. Everyone sang along to the big choruses, and it felt like one big celebration of music and community. I hope this is a sign of things to come in Waterford as the crowd Pillow Queens drew were pure music lovers that have had to travel the country for years to see acts like this. By the time they closed with “Don’t Dream” and “Liffey” the crowd was buzzing with excitement. This was a night that reminded everyone why Pillow Queens are such a beloved band right around the country. High-energy, heartfelt, and absolutely captivating – it’s safe to say they’ve raised the bar for gigs at Bank Lane. Patricia Lalor was a fantastic opener, and together, they delivered a night no one in that packed room will forget anytime soon.
