The first of two sold-out shows at Cork Opera House saw Paul Brady kick off his autumn dates in fine style, delivering an evening with songs that continue to resonate across generations.
A master storyteller as well as a songwriter of rare ability, Brady peppered the performance with anecdotes and memories, adding a warmth and intimacy to the night. He moved effortlessly between music and conversation.
Early on, Brady gave the crowd permission to “sing the shit out of it” if they knew the words. It was an invitation they needed little encouragement to accept, with voices rising throughout the room as familiar favourites struck a chord.
Songs including Nobody Knows, Steel claw, and The Island showcased the strength of his songwriting and the emotional depth that has made him such a beloved figure in Irish music.
The blend of outstanding musicianship, stories and singalong moments made for a night that felt both intimate and celebratory. With a second sold-out show to follow, Brady could hardly have asked for a better start to his autumn tour.
